Attappadi is one of the most important historical places in Kerala. Attappadi occupies a place in Palakkad District, and it belongs to Mannarkkad Taluk. Majority of the people who are residing, are tribes, and the other people belongs to, all the categories such as Christians, Hindus, Muslims and others. Basically it is an agricultural area, so the majority depends on land. Most of them are migrated from other parts of  Kerala.  The Attappadi churam (ghat road) begins at Anamooli in Mannarkkad Taluk, and it ends at Mukkali. It is the one of the famous churams hill highway in Kerala. It includes many hairpin bends, which is the main attraction for the tourist. Another major attraction is the presence of wild animals in the roads during day and night.
Mukkali is another important place from which we turns towards silent valley National park. The hill areas like anavay, Kadukumanna, Chindaki, are situated in this area. Silent Valley is said to be the place where the ‘Pancha-pandavas’ lived secretly during the Vanavsa period. ‘Kunthi puzha’ (kunthi River) is another attraction of  Silent Valley. It is originated from the placed named ‘ Sairandhri’. Silent Valley, defines Silence as the name suggests. It is due to the absence of ‘cricket’ (cheeveed), which is found in other forests. Lion tailed Macaque is the main attraction of this national Park and it is an extinct animal species.
As we go further we enter into the heart of Attappadi. The next populated area is Kalkkandi from where we go to the places named Thrithwamala, Kallamala, Jellipara, Ommalla, the main road leads towards Chemmanur, Pakkulam and Thavalam. Chemmannur is a mythical place. It was the place called as “Attappadi” earlier. “Sivarathri” celebration is being held at Chemmannur Siva Temple. Malleeshwaran Mudi is situated in Chemmannur and during ‘Sivarathri’ celebration a group of swamis’ step into the religious Malleshwaran Mudi and they light the lamp, it is a traditional culture which has been followed long ago.
Thavalam is another important place, because the world famous Sehion retreat centre is situated there. There is no fragmentation in the name of caste, creed or religion, millions of people are gathering together in the name of God. It is followed by the alienated places like Plamaram and  Kavundikal. Nakkupathi is the next place situated near the main road and from here we can go to the places like Jellipara, Ommala, Thrithwamala, Kallamala. Jellipara is highly populated area. The places like Odapetti, Dhonigund belong to Jellipara. As we go further we enter into the heart of Attappadi, Gulikadavu-Agali area. Gulikadavu is the township of Attapadi. It is an important place because it is a highly populated area. The inhabitants of Attapadi depends on Gulikadavu for their official purposes because most of the government offices are situated at Gulikadavu and Agali. We can turn towards all the parts of Attappadi from Gulikadavu. The places like Nellipathi, Karara, Mundanpara, Chittoor, Kottamalla, Puliyara, etc are located at the right hand side of the Gulikadavu.
After Agali the path reaches Kottathara. It is the place where the Tamil migrated people are seen. We can go to Mully and Puthur from Kottathara. Mully is the boarder of Attapadi which separates Kerala from Tamilnadu. The tourist can go to Ooty, via Mully easily. It includes more than 50+ hairpins. The places coming after Kottathara are less populated (Vattilaki, Dasanur, etc). It is an important migrated area.
Geographically Anaikatty is the next place, it is another Kerala-Tamilnadu boarder. From Anakatty the Tamilnadu region begins. It is one of the easiest ways to go to Tamilnadu other than Walyar.
When we take deviation from Anaikatty we arrives at Sholayoor. Sholayoor is the place to where people migrated first from all the parts of Kerala and other states. It is a developing area. It includes a primary health centre, Govt. Ayurvedic Hospital, village office and police station. We can go to the places like vayalur and Kozhikoodam from Sholayoor.

The Bhavani plantations have a private owned estate in Siruvani. Siruvani is almost 8 kilometers away from Sholayoor. The varadimala  estate and KGP estate  also belong to the private  ownerships.
